Padre Island and Corpus Christi

Padre Island and Corpus Christi

A couple weeks ago, I was given the privilege to visit Padre Island National Seashore on Padre Island. I camped right next to the beach with my family. The only problem was the 40 mph winds and we were in a tent. So my parents decided to get a hotel for the rest of our weekend getaway.

While we were there on Padre Island, my parents decided to take us to the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi, Texas. Now if you plan on visiting the Texas State Aquarium, make sure to also stop by the USS Lexington, which is conveniently right next to the state aquarium and is #1 on TripAdvisor for things to do in Corpus Christi.

I saw so many sea creatures and a couple land animals. I saw otters, Kemp Ridley sea turtles, vultures, a Chambered Nautilus, and dolphins.

My favorite sea creature would have to be either a dolphin or a Kemp Ridley sea turtle. During our visit, we learned that it was the egg laying season for the Kemp Ridley turtles so if you see a turtle laying her eggs DO NOT DISTURB HER! Kemp Ridley turtles are an endangered species and their population is slowly disappearing because of trash being in the ocean. So if you see trash on the beach, pick it up. You might have just saved a turtle from unnecessary death.

After walking around a two-story aquarium with most of the exhibits outside, my parents decided it was time to head back to the hotel.

My day at the Texas State Aquarium was a blast! (Literally, because there were 40 mph winds.) Hopefully, I can go back to visit again.

Comment of the week: What is your favorite sea animal?
